Our Mission: To awaken in each child the theologicial virtues of faith, hope and charity; to guide them as they learn to live a vibrant Catholic life and to help them develop as strong leaders in the Catholic Church and society. At Aquinas Academy, we use the approach of Integral Formation to teach the intellect, to educate the heart, to form the will. The result: mature young people ready to attain their highest human potential in order to serve the Church, society and the world. Our motto is "Semper Altius," which is Latin for "always higher."
We are one of more than 30 schools across the nation guided by the National Consultants for Education (NCE), which serves independent Catholic schools in the areas of curriculum, teacher formation, school operations and administration, and consulting services.
Integral Formation
Integral Formation is the harmonious development of all dimensions of the human person; intellectual, character, spiritual and apostolic. As a Catholic school, we believe that Christ is the model for students, staff, family, and every human being.
Intellectual Formation - The academic program leads students to the highest level of intellectual formation. Students are challenged to meet high, yet attainable, academic expectations in a joyful and loving environment. Not only is a solid intellectual formation an important part of the integral development of a person, it is essential for leadership. Through studies in core subjects, as well as other academic and extra-curricular activities, students should acquire:
- A critical mind that distinguishes right from wrong, fact from fiction, truth from opinion.
- Superior thinking, reasoning, and analytical skills.
- An ability to think, speak, and write clearly, precisely, and persuasively.
- Habits and dispositions essential for ongoing intellectual formation - including a genuine passion for learning and producing high-quality work.
Character Formation - Character formation is the development of a strong and virtuous person, essential for authentic leadership. Character development provides students the ability to be faithful to their personal convictions and truth. At Aquinas Academy, students learn that their external behavior is a manifestation of their internal values and self-esteem. A well formed conscience, built upon charity, integrity, honesty and compassion, lays the foundation for good, loyal, and life-long friendships.
Spiritual Formation - Spiritual formation prepares students to know, love, and imitate Jesus Christ. At Aquinas, the fullness of the Catholic Faith, complemented by the encouragement of a life of grace through prayer and the Sacraments, fosters a deep and genuine love for Jesus, Our Lady, the Church, the Pope and eachother. Prayer is an integral part of school life as well as a unique emphasis on living a virtuous life and the respect for students of all faiths. Parents may benefit from the various educational and formative programs made available throughout the year.
Apostolic Formation - Aquinas Academy considers the apostolic life to be the most evident result of each student's integral formation and relationship with God. By cultivating an apostolic capacity, students are formed to go into society to serve as Christian leaders and apostles. Age appropriate outreach programs help develop a sensitive heart and strong will to respond to the needs of others.
